I must say thanks to a number of people:-
Horsham & Crawley CTC: accepted the new boy on the mountain bike with open arms and provided lots of advice, encouragement and most importantly - regular 40/50 mile rides.
Pete Smith (CTC): for letting me use this picture of me eating an ice-cream on top of Beachy Head. Taken on a cold day in early March, it's become the iconic image on my build up to the ride - one man and his bike.
Pete and Elaine: for taking my sponsor and 'Guess the mileage' forms around and about.
Everyone who has sponsored me: thanks for your contribution - it'll be one of the main things driving me on during the grotty parts of the ride.
My workmates: thanks for taking on my huge workload whilst I'm poncing about having fun on my bike.
All my wonderful friends: without exception, they have encouraged me in my endeavour and hopefully some will meet up with me sometime on the ride..
My family: they've put up with me being out on my bike or working on my bike or working on the ride on my computer or poring over maps or just plain boring everyone by talking constantly about the ride. Then for good measure they've been waving my sponsor forms under people's noses.
Jan: for giving up the chance of a nice sunny beach holiday for three weeks of practically living in the car whilst she follows me around and sorts out food and accommodation.
Finally: many many thanks must go to M. Boik for creating (& hosting) this website for me. I wanted something I could control from afar and that's what he's delivered. I just send in my e-mails and his program extracts the location information, the diary entries and the pictures and then updates the Map page, the Blog page and the Picture gallery without me having to do anything technical - my kind of computing!
Thanks everyone.
